Community Spotlight #7

Few men in this world can refer to themselves as a ‘Minister of Information’, but Michael Moore is one of those men. Who is this “Michael Moore”, you might be wondering? Well, you may know him as OhMalley (an affectionate name that he bestowed upon himself), or for one of his many great contributions to the Gotham City Impostors wiki. But no matter where you recognize him from, one thing is clear: He’s very deserving of his spot in the seventh Community Spotlight.

Mr. Moore is a man that we’ve had the distinct opportunity to get to know better. We wanted to share our findings with you, and give you some insight into the OhMan, the OhMyth, the OhLegend: OhMalley.

Greetings, Michael! (Or, as the folks out here have come to know you, OhMalley.) Tell us a bit about yourself, why don’t you?
Hey! So, I'm a 25 year old Chemistry grad turned electronics retail lackey. But I also spend my time impostoring at home, as well as gaming and podcasting.

You, along with our very own Gryn, are one of the hosts of Impostor Radio, the (unofficial) Gotham City Impostors podcast! Can you tell us a bit more about that?
Gryn and I talk about all things Gotham City Impostors. We spotlight individuals in the community that are doing cool stuff, talk about the latest news that you guys release, as well as our own projects. Gryn talks about his updates to his loadout builder, the calling card generator, and the We Are Impostors wiki. I tend to focus on making loadouts, what choices to make, and how to play them.

If there’s one thing the Impostors community needs to know about you, it’s that you’re the mastermind behind the Impostors Damage Stats spreadsheet. First off, it’s absolutely incredible! Secondly, how did you get all that information down?
I spent a lot of time during the beta and after the release just writing down numbers. I made notes of what fun facts, mods, and other items modified damage. After putting the numbers down in a spreadsheet and using some logic, BOOM! There you have it. It's still a work in progress since those explosives tend to be a bit tricky to nail down the exact damage they deal.

So, word on the street is that you’re a hardcore, lifelong gamer. What sort of stuff do you like to do? How did you get into gaming?
For me, gaming is more than just about the games themselves. It's about their communities too. In college, a lot of the friends I made were through Halo 2 and the school's gaming club. Initially, there was only a handful of us, but I took the role of serving as the console gaming council leader. I helped organize the tournaments for all the LANs the club held every few months and got to meet a lot of awesome people. Plus it was amazing to see the regular console crowd shoot from 10 people up to over a 100 in just over a year. A lot of the same people I met through the gaming club are still lifelong friends. Since then, I've participated in the H2O gaming clan, the Bioshock 2 multiplayer community, as well as other small gaming websites.

And you’re not just a gamer either, but a big fan of all things Batman. Correct?
Definitely! Since I was a little kid, I was always intrigued by all things Batman. I ate up the animated series, the three 90's Batman movies, and any comic book I could get my hands on at the time. I fell in love with the lore and the dynamics of all the characters. Now that I'm older getting to play as Batman in Arkham Asylum and City (or as an Impostor) is a real treat and so much for fun for me.

So, give is the dirty: What’s your favorite thing to do in Gotham City Impostors?
It's either a tie between blasting enemies into cold oblivion with the Deep Freezer or being the goofy hopping healer. I just like to imagine the looks on my enemies faces when my teammates simply won't die while I'm jumping around below them yelling through the floor.

If we wanted to hear more from you, but have already listened to Impostor Radio, where should we direct our web browsers?
Impostor Radio has only been around for a short time and has such a focused goal. I’ve co-hosted another podcast with my best friend Dave called the Boss Battle Podcast for over a year-and-a-half now. We just posted Episode 52 a few days ago! Just check us out at www.bossbattlepodcast.com!

We’re going to give you the last word! Is there anything that we missed, that you might want to tell us about yourself?
I really enjoy this game for its humor and solid gameplay and I love participating in the loadout discussion areas just to see what others come up with and to share my input and knowledge. By the way, now that you've interviewed me, when do I get to interview you guys for Impostor Radio?

We’re… going to have to get back to you on that. We’ve got this whole ‘Impostors’ thing to work on, you see? That’s taking up quite a bit of our time at the moment! But, thank you kindly for the time that you’ve spent with us. We’ll cherish it forever, and ever. (And ever!)

If you found Mr. Moore as interesting as we did, check him out on Impostor Radio, the Boss Battle Podcast, or on his Twitter feed.
