    Re: Explaining Montages

It may sound like I'm trashing the other montages, and I'm not trying to. I'm just trying to give some feedback, although it is kind of coming off in a negative way. I'm just dissapointed in all of these montages because it seems like false advertising to me. I'm trying to watch some good gameplay so I can get better and all I get is this.

Honestly, I agree. The few montages I've seen so far have all been... to say the least, not worth watching at all IMO.

I miss the days of day-1 montages, where people would do all of their recording and editing in one day. It would show a lot more about the individual person's style and skill than more traditional montages.

As long as the person is having fun making it, who the hell cares. If it doesn't entertain you stop watching it, works for me.

This is basically what I do. And you're right, I'm all for showing style and uniqueness. Which is why I find traditional montages boring and played out. Maybe I'm alone in this, I dunno. I like going against what everyone else is doing. People can't wait to show off "LeGiT SkiLlz" in their montages to some HORRIBLE dubstep. Sure it looks flashy, and mainstream gamers (especially the FPS crowd) eat them up. Cool. Good luck to Major and whoever else makes these type of montages. More power to you guys. As for me, I'll keep on doing what I do. I have fun doing it, and I know some people feel the same way. That's enough to keep me going.

i had fun making my montage. it was my first time trying at doing a video such as this...i didnt think it was too bad for a first try. i think the more videos out there of gotham city the better. ive been doing youtube vids for about a year now and working for a youtube network for about 6 months now and the one thing ive learned in my time doing this...not everyone starts out pro.

as long as it is good clips and edited together well (not really like crazy editing, but editing that is up to par), but for some people, it doesn't need to take a month. But I agree, that it shouldn't be just one kill clips unless it is a very sexy kill.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

Basically, if you don't like it, then don't chuffin watch it, it's as simple as that.

Whether it be a montage of epic kills, variable gameplay or silly deaths... it is STILL a montage.

A montage is not something that can be whipped up in a couple of days after the game comes out, it can take months to get a legit montage.

For this game, a montage should have things like triple and quad feeds, crazy kill (like grappling hooks) and other things that you don't see every day, not average gameplay set to music.
