Ninja Smoke Bomb Needs Nerfed (and Securing Objectives while Invis is a Game Breaker)

Title says it all. Capturing an objective, like in Fumigation, while Invisible is not cool even a little bit. There's a reason why this isn't supported in Team Fortress 2 (the only other significant game out there with multiplayer and cloaking): it's game-breakingly wrong.

And getting rolled by an enemy team where 4 of its dudes are running around cloaked sucks, especially when half of them are toting shotguns. Easily the most infuriating match I've ever been in and I should have ragequit it two minutes in. I want to strangle somebody.

You guys need to take a look at your Ninja Smoke Bombs, bad. I am amazed you can secure objectives while invisible. I am amazed you can recover at a recovery station while invisible. It's straight up ridiculous that we can run all around a map holding L2 to go invisible and it'll never drop until we're taken out or let go of L2. I can't believe checking someone with gunfire doesn't affect the quality of the cloak for a few seconds. I can't believe the invisibility drops as fast as it does. I am just about aghast that Ninja Smoke Bmbs have no recharge period like every other gadget. Heck, I can't believe it's a GADGET. I can't believe you don't have to resupply this item - really, I can't believe it's not a Support item.

    Ninja Smoke Bomb needs nerfed.

Dude, you can clearly see the person. Being Invisible creates a distortion effect, thats pretty noticeable, not to mention in order to get the gasblaster you have to be pretty close anyway. Just take a breather and come back to the game later if it really pisses you off. Although i agree with the recharge period thing. Then again Theres a healing tincan option with also very minimal recharge. Its a fast passed game.

yeah i dont know how many times ive been invis capturing an objective only to have someone spot me immediately and kill be before i could go visible. its really not that overpowered, it just requires skill to find the ninjas.
I mean in Fumigation there's only a limited radius around the gasblaster that you can stand in, so if it's contested and you don't see anybody just look around for the effect, and if that fails you can use trap-in-a-boxes or take an automatic weapon and spin around in a circle while firing and laughing maniacally.

Hi you must be New. the Ninja smoke bomb actually is in need of an improvement. good players see them as free kills. try and use smoke bomb if you think it is that good. you will rage even more when you get killed over and over again without the ability to defend yourself.
"To ensure that the game stays fun, the team will also be aggressively monitoring the game by pulling data from servers and fighting alongside you in the live game so that we can make running balance adjustments."
    Yea..rite...

Well, I know there's a distortion effect, but it can (appropriately, mind you) be very difficult to see - it's kinda the point, I know - and around the Gasblaster in particular it's difficult to see due to the particle effects around it. Seeing a distorted Speedy or Nimble can be very difficult, especially at range, and especially at certain poorly lit objectives (objective 2 in the warehouse at the Docks, for instance) and there's a good chance you'll be absolutely screwed if they were toting bear traps and a shotty.

I can't say it's even remotely fair to secure objectives while cloaked and the invisibility effect should flicker significantly under gunfire. Aiming down sight at a distortion, it's even pretty easy to lose the guy in muzzle flash.

    Oh look... Another one!

Seriously I wish people would think about things like this before they post QQ threads.

I'm not even going to go into detail as to how to counter them, as you can easily look through the forums and find loads (seriously, LOADS) of posts made by people telling QQers how to counter the NSB.

I've thought about this rather considerably, Zerl. If you disagree, cool, but I made a rather concise list detailing areas where I believe an imbalance is present.

You also cannot reasonably expect to be prepared for every situation at every point in the game, so it's ridiculous to expect it of anyone else and suggest that everyone merely go out and use a silver bullet counter to the strategy. It's part of making choices in the limited space of a loadout.

But I would love to hear what the counter is to Ninja Smoke Bombs with Wallflower, Body Armor, a Sniffer'd Shotgun, and a Silenced gun. I'd love to hear what the counter is to half a team set up like that, going with either Body Armor or Bear Traps.

(Is it "get good"? Be better than the whole enemy team? Ragequit and re-queue?)

The counter to the NSB is your own freaking eyes.

Players are at their most vulnerable while they're invisible. Look for the blur and shoot at it until something dies.
    a + b = aφ
     a   b

    Everything is connected.

^This. I'm so tired of seeing "Nerf the NSB. Nerf Shotguns, Nerf Rockets, etc." Learn how to counter it people, my god.

All the people crying for nerfs love to have their games so homogenized that everything is just going to be boring as hell. The NSB and other various "OP" items are just fine right now as it is.

If Monolith thinks differently then they will adjust it. Learn to use your eyes and not using what's handed out to you because you can't further yourself as a player and instead decide to cry about it.
If I've helped you in anyway, please take a second to hit the star located under my post and give a +Rep.

Current Gang: None. The game hasn't invited me yet and I'm level 4x. Really want the Hazmats

The only thing I would even consider altering on the NSB is the ability to capture gasblasters. Contesting them via defense would be perfectly fine, but even then, I don't think it needs to be nerfed.

But I'm also the one trying to think of another counter to body armor before it gets nerfed to hell and back. x_x
