What is the point of the Desperado?

I like using SMGs a lot due to their ADS movement speed and pretty reliable hipfire spread.

No wait, I mean I like using the Gatekeeper. I can't for the life of me figure out what exactly is the saving grace of the Desperado. It has lower base damage and one less bullet in the clip by default compared to the Gatekeeper. It might shoot faster but it's RoF alone doesn't compensate for what it trades for that RoF.

I can actually kill Mighties with the Gatekeeper when I flank them, even with body armor. But the Desperado seems to struggle to even do that. Hell, even unarmored it might eek out a kill. Barely.

Does the community have anything positive to say about this gun? At least there are two factions of Shredder and Jackhammer users. But the Gatekeeper just overshadows the Desperado completely.

the desperado rapes i use it all the time and its a good gun dont try to kill heavies with it if its not working for you

TC posted a legit question, idk really, someone posted weapon stats earlier in the week. I would like to believe it has a gimmick of being the fastest weapon draw time after running, but that's just my hope. I'll buy it in a few levels and give you my feedback on it tc if no one makes a legit response. I might run it on my nimbles i oh so enjoy then.

that's not what the tc was asking though, there's only one support weapon, but that's beside the point. TC was asking what are the differences besides the seemingly only "negatives" (differences) when compared to the Gatekeeper.

Honestly you guys are sleeping in a top tier weapon here.

Base damage is 25 higher than the shredder.

RoF is the second highest in the game.

By the time the gatekeeper does 90 damage the desperado would have done 100 - 125 damage

I love the gatekeeper and run them both together in my pressure loadout


Desperado with extended mags has 36 bullets in the clip.

Also I take down mightys with body armor all day with this weapon, it kills them so fast they have no time to react.

The main issue is you need to be very accurate, spray and praying does not work on this weapon well because of the low base damage, if you are very accurate you will completely own pretty much every weapon in the game as long as you are within distance.
