Gangs and Turf Wars...what's the point? (not a complaint)

I was just wondering what the benefits were of being in a gang. I asked during the beta and was told it would be revealed when the full game released. The game is out (and loads of fun!), but I still have no clue what the point of being in a gang is. Do you get special stuff? If so, when? How do you get better reputation (mine seems to have been at 1 for quite awhile now)?

Also, how are the percentages gathered? Is it based on wins from people in that gang or something?

The point of the gangs and the turf war system remains unclear at this point. The answer is yes you do get stuff for being in a gang. I believe once you reach rank 5 with the gang you unlock a catchphrase for your player card. When you reach rank 10 with a gang (the highest rank) then you get that gangs symbol and another catchphrase for your player card. You get a higher rank just by playing (it lets you know when you rank up in your gang at the end of the match mvp lineup) ALOT. For the gang percentages I believe those are composed of people in those gangs. So the #1 ranked gang on the list has the most people in it but im not entirely sure.

Okay, so how come it takes so long to get to Rank 2? I don't see a meter for how close you are to leveling up in the gang, or if there is one it has not moved since joining the gang. It seems like it is very hard to level up the gang reputation. I have been playing a lot since the game came out and am still at Rank 1.

there isn't a meter. and yes it is hard to rank up in gang reputation. I believe this is on purpose. Just as a point of reference I was in the private beta for this game back in December and it took me from December 29th (when i downloaded the private beta) to February 5th (a day or two before the public beta ended) to reach rank 10 with the alley cats. keep in mind I played the game basically nonstop because its so much fun. trust me its gonna take a lot of playing to rank up.

I can't say how long it took me to get to rank 2.. Only because I cannot remember how many hours in I was before I accepted the gang invite. But i'd say it took me around 8-10 hours of playtime. But I can say the game does have a silly bug that when you look at other ppl to see who they are a gang with it shows your rank in that gang and not theirs.

It'll be interesting to see down the road what all it takes to lvl up it's rank.. is it winning? is it your xp? does playing on maps your gang run/don't run give more bonus? who knows?! Only the devs probably at this point and their voodoo math.

I could have sworn I saw a meter somewhere that shows rep, but it might just be my imagination playing tricks on me.

I'm ranked in the Kill-a-watts (Sp?) but am currently rank 2 in Hazmats and am level 34. I got a rank catch phrase at rank 2 for Hazmats.

There is a meter. It is in the end game stats card at the last page. I think it is the stop watch that is near the top of the screen.

Don't quote me on this, but I think it has something to do with wins on their turf. Problem is, I don't get enough matches on my gang's turf.
