The current state of the forums.

It started right around the time the last VII elections came along. It's like this wave of jealousy went through the entire community, and people suddenly began to find it extremely easy to excuse the kind of behaviour that honestly hadn't been all that common before this.

Suddenly, people who I used to think were cool would do nothing but troll threads, and others would react way out of line when they felt they were slighted.

Problem is, there really aren't that many people around to tell other members of the community off when they're doing something bad. I try to do it, which most of the time is seen as condescension, but the older VII's seem to be busy talking about how the forums are going to the dogs (I would very much appreciate it if some of you guys could come back and show the rest of the community what the meaning of excellence is), and the mods obviously aren't helping.

And all of this ****ing SUCKS to me. See, the thing is that I actually ****ing LIKE these forums. I like the fun of them, I like the people who frequent them and I like the game that lies at the center of them. That's why I have almost 1,800 posts - it's not like I'm just trying to inflate my post count.

But as a forum, we need to have more people who are willing and able to moderate their own behaviour. We need people to act like conscientious adults, rather than petty children.

More than that, we need people who'll at least try to make the forums a better place to be.

I hope I'm not on your Poo list Olessius....I have been a jerk in threads but not usually on purpose unless it was a really D-Bag thread started by someone trying to disrespect the GCI community and stir up drama in the forums....

I've sat here and stared at this comment box thinking of something to say about what I've read here, but strangely the only thought that goes through my head is that I don't want to be VII after reading through this thread.
