Gang recruitment?

I got a question that may have already come up, but i may have missed. Back when the game first came out and i started playing thru areas, i got a gang invite but turned it down cuz it wasnt the gang i wanted lol and i havent got another invite since. is that an issue?

I've wondered if there's a bug with this. I've seen similar posts many times, and the common element seems to be turning down the initial invite after hitting level 12.

A friend of mine is level 75 and he's never gotten an invitation after turning down the first. He's not an exceptional player but he places in the top 3 often enough.

The above statement is correct. You are initially invited to the gang associated with the map that you are playing when you first hit level 12.

Afterwards in order to achieve a gang invite you need to consistently place well (1st position preferable) several times on a map associated with a gang in order to secure an invite. This might mean having the highest number of kills several times in quick succession if playing team death match to having the highest overall score several times if playing the other game modes.

Some players say getting invites is quite hard. Personally, I've had invites at least 3 times from all of the gangs (excluded my current gang) and I'm only level 73 and often place as the MVP. Not being big headed; just I think placing 1st often really helps your chances.

I'm the player Rasparian was referring to - I'm an okay player, but rarely ever place 1st. And after my initial invite (which probably happened when I hit level 12) I've gotten no invites. Perhaps this is due to my rather average gameplay.

The rules for being invited haven't generally been clear to me. If I need a 1st place finish on the same map a few times in a row, I think I'll just wait for an invite when I hit 112. :-)

For what it's worth, I managed to earn my way into the Wharf Rats. I rocked 2 or 3 games in a row (was in the top 3 players) and got the invite.
