Profile corrupted, leaderboard issue
I'm really enjoying GCI on my PS3, and my Team Deathmatch leaderboard ranking is now in the low teens. (My name is different here than in the game.) I'm working on possibly reaching the first page in the leaderboard, and I would have been there already, except:
I woke up yesterday to find GCI giving me a "profile corrupted" error message. It reverted to an earlier version of my profile, and about 400,000 of my leaderboard points vanished. This was entirely unexpected. Then I saw the person who I had passed in the leaderboard the night before, had somehow accumulated about 1,000,000 more leaderboard points while I slept (about 9 hours.). Naturally I'm skeptical about thbis conjunction of two events that have bumped me down a notch suddenly. Can someone actually legitimately rack up a million points in 9 hours? Is a hacker screwing me (and others) on the leaderboard(s)?
Re: Profile corrupted, leaderboard issue
Maybe it's a combination of hacking and boosting? I'm thinking maybe someone impersonated my client and deliberately corrupted my profile, or hacked into the server and messed with it that way. When I was playing the night before the profile corruption occurred, there were no signs of trouble that would lead me to believe my profile had become corrupted. Saves occurred without error messages, my score showed up correctly in the leaderboard, and GCI (and my PS3) were not crashing. As for boosting, I can only speculate about someone and their buddies exploiting the Party system. I had never before seen someone gain a million leaderboard points in 9 hours. I suddenly found myself about 1.4 million points lower than I was (relative to the person who I had just passed up) when I went to sleep 9 hours earlier. It doesn't smell right. Or was I just very unlucky and someone really did legitimately gain a million points without hacking/cheatting/boosting in 9 hours?
