My loadout just got me Glory Hog!

    Here is the match:

    And here is the loadout:

I know it is kind of a mean class, using some of the "OP" stuff, but I don't really buy into all that too much. I do badly often enough with most loadouts. Also, a couple of the players in the match seemed pretty good, so I was very surprised to finally get the ole 'Glory Hog', which of course, finished my TDM feats.

Anyway, I made this class awhile back after many matches of fighting an armored, motivated, camped, mighty squad. On Crime Alley, they camped that corner with the high ledge on the Joker spawn side and I could not flush them out. They did the same on Amusement Mile's med station. So, the Thunder Dragon, which I'd not used before. The Gatekeeper/pene ammo is standard for another 100 headshots, then I'm going to a Dawn Patrol or Partisan. Now that I have the hang of playing the Insoles, I am also swapping the BA for a Hatchet or Impact Grenade.

This is strictly a slaying class. Let 'em tag me and come. Forget it if I have a good, mobile motivator on my side. The 25th Floor is fun to stalk like that. Anyway, the strategy is simple: Keep jumping, keep shooting and flush campers out.

Hey, grats! I've done it a couple of times myself and it's always a welcome ego-boost. Now, I wouldn't care very about the class - if you'd gone full Glider Mighty I might've raised an eyebrow (not that it isn't LEGIT, you just shouldn't brag about using it), but this is just a solid, survivable build.

You should try changing the Armor for the Energy Drink - I have a similar build to this, and I went 19-2 in the first game I played after I made this little revision. The Energy Build makes you much more flexible than the Armor, and allows you to stay lethal with much more consistency - finding a health station becomes much less vital, and all it takes is a few seconds to regain enough health to win a fight even if you're still in the middle of it.

lol, the second time I got glory hog I was using my Deep Freeze loadout...so I either got super lucky or everyone else in the match sucked more than I did. The first time I got it though, it was essentially the same build but with Wallflower and Grapple gun.

Bad matchmaking got me Glory Hog.
Thrown into a 1 vs 1. Killed him a few times before we just started messing around, exploring the docks and finding all the little places to hide.

Dunno how any of those are OP, except maybe BA, HH, and HT. None of them are really OP by themselves.

Anyways, that class is a pretty good all-around class. Good job getting Glory Hog, it's going to take me forever to get it.

Have yet to get glory hog but have been MVP severals times using only the Deep Freeze, knife kills and grapple gun kills for snipers and people out of reach. Great weapon.

Hey, can you tell me how to use Inflatable Insoles efficiently? I've always had trouble using them, and you've done pretty well with 'em.

I'm by no means a master with them, but I've switched from Speedy + NSB to Nimble + II for a while now and have a handle of sorts on them. The biggest advantage they give you is surprise. They give you access to places that you normally wouldn't be able to reach from certain directions (so ppl who think they're safe from a certain direction are less likely to look behind them...) Take a while on each of the maps in Challenge mode with the II and jump around. Find new lanes or perches that you think will be particularly useful. Think about what game mode you like playing and where you would stand if the enemy is over there, or coming from this direction. Then, when you're in game killing things, it'll be fewer things for you to think about. You'll know the enemy is going to be here, so you already know where you want to be.

    my 2cents, anyway.

Oh, and one of the best things about II is you never have to be killed by a Mighty Glider again. As long as you stay aware of where they are, you can nimbly leap over their head as they dive towards you. Land behind them and kill them while they get their bearings.
Too busy with Dark Souls right now...

Re: My loadout just got me Glory Hog!

Just to add to the good advice of kxizm:

    1. Practices makes perfect. Like kxizm said, go to the challenge modes for this. Just knowing what jumps one can make on each of the maps is keys to success with the insoles. For instance, one can easily make the jump from the ground to the bridge in the middle of Amusement Mile, or onto almost any large vehicle; just gotta try it out.

    2. As soon as you start getting shot, especially from behind, jump or even double jump, spinning to find them and then shoot them. By the time you land, they should almost be dead. When I first started using insoles, I kept forgetting I was wearing them in the middle of firefights. Once I stopped forgetting, my success went way up. Use this same method as soon as you see or hear the divebomb. I love how the insoles can own the glider.

    3. Just get good at shooting while jumping. This is not the most intuitive way to fight, so it will take some practice. My many hours (weeks, really) playing Borderlands helped make this a second nature already, but really, it can help in any FPS. With the insoles, you will surprise many enemies with the sheer height of your jump.

    4. In the same vein, remember your double jump. This is, imo, just icing on the cake to the 40% higher jump one already gets. The double jump lets you change direction, which just confuses and surprises your enemy more.

    Now on to the drawbacks:
    1. There are places you just can’t get. This is no different than a lot of gadgets, so it is important to have items and weapons to mitigate this. I put the Thunder Dragon into this loadout for this reason: flush out the enemies I can’t get to.

    2. No hiding, no running. You must rely on your mobility to win the fight. There really is no escape. Also, awareness is key here, since there is no easy traverse of the board like some other gadgets give.

    3. Slow. Knowing what jumps you can make really mitigates this, though. You can get across a board quickly just by jumping over some obstacles that would normally be too high (too high, what a joke!).

I am getting decent with the insoles, but I am by no means an expert yet (YET!!). I am sure you can find better advice, but this has been working for me.
